Tech Whore

Yes, I was one of the multitude of folks that actually waited in line for an iPhone.

Camp

Happy 4th everyone.  MIke and I are headed out today to the Oroville area for a camping trip.  It’s actually been a few years since we’ve done any camping, so this will be a big change from our normal routines.

Our dogs are not as happy about this trip as we are….they have to stay at home with one of our neighbors for this trip.  We’ll be spending too much time out on a boat, not to even mention the hassel of trying to get them to lay down in a tent.

Pride

Pride weekend is upon us again.  It’s easy to tell…it’s freakin cold again.  I can remember one Pride weekend in the past 10 years that has been really nice out… one where it was actually too hot…a few that have been downright cold…and the rest just ‘on the cool side’.

I’m figuring that there will be a bit more of a celebratory feel to the events this year considering the marriage decision.  Probably a few more protesters as well.  Luckily they tend to kinda disappear into the crowd…just too many supportive people for the protesters to really stand out.

I’ve debated on attending the actual parade or not…it does tend to go on and on and on and on and… Still, it is a great people watching opportunity, and photo opportunity.  Which means I’ll probably end up standing along Market Street by 10am as usual.  hehe.

I’ll certainly be catching at lease one of the performances at the Pride Festival…Cyndi Lauper is going to be performing!  You can see more about the whole event by visiting the SF Pride 2008 website.

Calming

Things seem to have calmed down for me at work a bit.   The past few weeks were just too much.  I felt like I was being pulled in too many different directions at once.  I wasn’t even sure where to start with all the different ‘top priority’ tasks I had.  Now at least I feel I can manage my different projects.  My sanity appears to be safe..at least for now.

Preparations

I’ve spent my weekend trying to relax as much as possible.  I know that the next few weeks are going to be a bit busy.  Nothing unexpected for this time of year, just a lot of things that need to be reviewed or rejected in as quickly as possible.  Luckily Mike is out of town for the next two weeks…lets me work a bit more without feeling like I’m ignoring him.  With a little luck I’ll have the bulk of the work done by the time he gets home.

A Victory

It appears that my husband and I may actually now be a lawfully recognized married couple in the grand confines of our own country (well, portion of country)…not just in our progressive brother to the north.  (Yay Canada!!)

The state Supreme Court has ruled that the state can not deny civil marriage to same-sex couples.  Certainly a time to celebrate, even with the black cloud of a possible Constitutional Amendment overhead.

In typical fashion, columnist Mark Morford gives a very entertaining commentary on the issue:

Court approves evil gay agenda / Satans plan to make uptight straight people “really uncomfortable” working out “fabulously,” say Bay Area gays

Renewed

OK…I managed to totally mess up my site at the DB level.  Frustrating, but not really a big loss.  I have a backup which I can probably use to restore and upgrade to the new version.  Then I’ll just have to import everything back here.  Heh.

At least it is a meaningful time to start fresh.  I have just started down the road to my big freakout over turning 40.  This time next year I will officially be out of my 30s.  If it’s anything like exiting my 20s I will not be a happy camper.
